Am having trouble purchasing tickets on the Vatican Museum website.
Can anyone recommend another authorized site or company that sells tickets to buy ahead of time?
Thanks.
What issues are you seeing? I was able to recently buy tickets from that site for my trip next week.
Glenn
Both I and my son in law input credit cards and it kicked us out saying payment was not processed/declined.
It's likely a common security problem with your credit cards. Some suggested solutions in these previous threads might be helpful. What I wouldn't do is just try to purchase your tickets on an independent site (and most likely for a higher price); if you're having card issues purchasing through the Vatican's site, you might have issues purchasing online for other attractions as well. Best to try and resolve the issue, if possible.

I had trouble using my Chase Visa on the Museum site 2 weeks ago. The problem was something called "Verified by Visa." If you do have a Visa, call your CC company, and they should direct you to Visa to get a 24-hour window in which you can purchase tickets.

Something called verified by Visa? Like saying that tides are caused by something called the moon! Everybody's been forced to register their cards with these Annoying 2nd layer security protocols years ago!
I live fearing the day Trenitalia will join the club...
I had the same problem buying excavation tickets through the Vatican site. After waiting a 1/2 hour on hold with Chase they lifted the block.
Hi Dario
We have Citibank MasterCard and were initially rejected as well for train tickets ROM-Firenze attempting purchase from USA. I switched over to AMEX and transaction went through, though they also sent me a text about the purchase.
RoxburyLad, just a suggestion here not to rely on your AMEX card in Italy as it's not widely accepted. Take your Mastercard and/or a VISA.
Hi Kathy
Thanks for the reminder
Way we usually do overseas trips is pay for everything that we purchase from home (plane, tour tix, train tix, hotel) with AMEX - haven't run into a situation where that has been a challenge.
We bring a low credit limit MasterCard that goes in the wallet and a Visa debit card for ATM from a different bank (this one has a low checking account balance used for online bill paying)
Neck wallet has High limit Visa Card from different bank and a Visa debit card from our main bank for ATMs along with cash.
All have different card numbers so if there's a problem - plenty of backup options
Ah, good for you.
It wasn't completely clear from a quick glance at your previous posts that this wasn't your first rodeo abroad!! :O)
