Hi all! We've been trying, many many times, to reserve tickets for the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel for a trip we're taking to Rome in early June. The Vatican website lets us get through the entire process, including payment, but then at the end says the request hasn't been processed. We didn't receive a confirmation email nor was the credit card charged any of those times, so clearly it's not going through. We followed instructions in Rick's book on Rome and on the Vatican website and can't figure out what's going on. Anyone else having this problem? We thought the website might be down yesterday, but tried again today and same problem. Would appreciate any advice!
You need to call your credit card company and ask to speak to their security rep. For Visa that would be their "verified by visa" representative. The Vatican requires 3rd level security on your credit card for transactions to go through. If you don't have this level the transaction will be cancelled.
Call the credit card and insist on being put through to the verified rep or for Mastercard they have their own 3 level reps. Have them enact the protocols and to stay on the line while you try to make the purchase again. There should be no issues once the protocol is enacted.

Thank you so much, Donna. We'll try this!
Hi, Lynn.
I also had trouble purchasing the tickets (using Chase bank VISA) from the official Vatican Museums website.. after exchanging few e mails from an customer agent, I was able to purchase the tickets using Citi bank Visa at the same website.... Apparently Chase bank VISA doesn't participate in their security CC processing when purchasing..
I suggest you to try with different bank VISA...
Thanks, Jennifer!
This happened to me today. The cc sent a text and email wanting to make sure that I was trying to make the purchase. Once I clicked on yes I was able to process my payment. Good luck.
This happened to me as well. Then I turned off my adblocker and all was well. Good luck!

This happened to me this morning. Had to speak to the fraud department at my credit card company, and then all was well.
