collosseum and vatican tickets

i was looking at the tickets for our trip in January. The official websites dont show the availability for the month. Is it too far out or are they truly sold out

TIA

The Vatican Museums are making some changes in the ticketing process, apparently effective January 1. I imagine that is what is holding things up. There's a lot of demand, especially for the regular entry tickets, so I'd recommend that you check the Vatican Museum website daily.

I don't keep up with the Colosseum-ticket situation.

Coopculture shows ticketing available for the Colosseum only up to Dec. 24th so you're looking too far out. They normally go on sale 30 days in advance, and there is also a weekly release.

As an aside, there will be a change of ticket vendor on Feb. 1 - it won't be Coopculture anymore - which may or may not affect the purchase process in the month leading up to the change.

There are currently 2 on-site ticket offices if willing to stand in line: Piazza del Colosseo and Largo Salara Vecchia.

Note that your tickets will have your names on them; be SURE to bring your passports for ID on the day of your visit. That goes for any children in your group as well.

who is the new ticket vendor to the Colosseum? and how far in advance can you get your tickets? should I use a 3rd party vendor?

They missed the Feb 1 intro for the new ticketing vendor. No clue when exactly when that will happen so until it does, it's still Coopculture. Tickets go on sale 30 days in advance, and in batches per each time slot. Those which include tours of the underground have tended to sell out within minutes of becoming available. There is another release 7 days in advance, and in batches per time slot.

There have been some glitches with the Coopculture site lately. They're blocking my IP address again so I'm unable to check ticket availability. Had this problem last week but it was resolved; hope they do that again. No, I wouldn't purchase with a 3rd party unless you've no other choice.

Kathy,

Thanks for responding. Question on 3rd party. 1. Are their ticket sales guaranteed? Do they get preference from the ticket office?
They claim they can make reservations now??

No idea. I do know that some of them cancelled tours this past year or so that included the underground, and refunded the $. No, I don't think they have to guarantee anything other than refunding a cancelled product, and no, I don't think they have priority where sales are involved. Even 3rd parties couldn't always get hands on tickets 'cause underground space is limited, thus limited amount of tickets. If you can do without accessing that part, you stand a better chance of getting tickets.

No idea who "they" are or what sort of reservation they can guarantee, if claiming they can do that.
