Getting around Naples Italy

We are going to be in Naples in April 2024 and was wondering about: (1) safe neighborhoods in which to stay that are not to far from the major sites; I.e., Archeological Museum, Cappella Sanservo, Duomo, Centrale station, etc. and (2) which is better, Taxi or Uber for getting around?
Thanks for any help.

Hi, All the places you mentioned downtown are very walkable, especially if you stay in a hotel in the center of town. One hotel that comes well recommended in the center is Hotel Piazza Bellini, the website looks AMAZING. If you go to the main RS website page, there's a search bar at the top, just a brief search of Naples will get you many threads on where to stay & what to see. Good luck!! Here's one example -

Italy does not have Uber, just Uber Black which is more of a luxury car service.

Naples has a good and inexpensive metro as well as funiculars climbing the hills.

I always stay near the train station for convenience. Taxis are found there and everywhere else. The sights you mentioned are all within walking distance of the station, or you can take the metro or a taxi.

In Naples, we like staying near the waterfront in the Chiaia district.

We found Naples safe, but did not go out in nightclub hours. We walked, with our luggage, about a mile from the Hotel Palazzo Deumani to the train station (for Sorrento.) No trouble whatsoever. We also walked to the Archaeology Museum, and back to the hotel where we'd checked our luggage upon vacating the room.
