On the RS website in a article about ETA and ETIAS people looking for more information are referred to an unofficial ETIAS website as “a good source for info “. The mind truly boggles.
I’m sure that once ETIAS comes into effect, we’ll see posts here of people who feel they’ve been scammed by this exact same unofficial website.

Nothing has actually changed on the official ETIAS website.

One Youtuber posted it as new information the other day and, as usual, other youtubers post it as well without checking to see if anything has changed. It's Youtube "follow the leader."

There will be no charge for anyone over 18, or over 70, on the current plans- although even that might change if and when this is implemented.

Why is this under Tourist Scams?

Maybe it’s under scams because it linked the les Frenchies video which basically is probably another chance for them to sell something.😂

There were threads on the Forums over a month ago with the official slipping of the date (for the umpty umpth time). The official price is not yet cast in stone. The idea of suggesting to renew passports is a waste of money until we have a date certain. There is absolutely no certainty. How can they EVER say how long the application process takes - there is no application process. ETIAS does not exist yet - or if ever.

I am sure that avirosemail posted this in good faith but the youtube referenced has a lot of holes. That couple are getting closer and closer to clickbait unfortunately.

I agree with the drift of these comments above regarding how The Frenchies has slid into the YouTube tendency to exaggerate and use hyperbole to drive engagement.

I also think it’s worth posting this under scams because newbies on the forum (and some not so newbies) have often asked about getting entry tickets and transit passes without understanding the distinction between third party suppliers/services and the‘real’ ticket page.

I have not been clicking on any of the visa-assistance sites (so called) and am taking The Frenchies at their word that they are already a problem. Is that just fear mongering?

ETIAS is currently not in operation and no applications for travel authorisations are collected at this point.
The European Union will inform about the specific date for the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch.

There is no mention of it starting in 2027.

The only change I see in the official statement is the deletion of the language referencing a start in 4th quarter of 2026.

I posted this change to the ETIAS site a month ago. Nothing has changed since them.

Except another Youtuber trying to earn some money from old information.
