ETIAS website change

The official ETIAS website no longer mentions 2026 but says the following:

ETIAS is currently not in operation and no applications for travel authorisations are collected at this point.
The European Union will inform about the specific date for the start of ETIAS several months prior to its launch.

Thanks, Frank! I appreciate you posting the update. It's always best to get information directly from the official source.

Thanks. That's good, but I hope it doesn't mean they wind up rolling it out right before my next European trip (next May)! Given how smooth (not!) EES has been, I'm definitely not looking forward to it.

ETIAS was first proposed by the European Commission in 2016 and was formally established by Regulation (EU) 2018/1240 of the European Parliament and of the European Council of 12 September 2018. Due to various reasons, including difficulties in integrating different member states' national systems into a central database, the implementation date has been repeatedly delayed from January 2021.

Postponement is going to be a hard habit to break.
