Does Tom Bihn ever go on sale?

I am considering purchasing a Tom Bihn bag, partially based on some recommendations I have read on this Forum. I am wondering if the TB website ever runs sales. For example, do they have a Labor Day or Black Friday sale? I don't need the bag for a while, so I can wait to purchase it if they do ever have sales. Thanks!

No, they seem to be like the BMW of travel gear. They don't see the need to discount their products. I'm guessing this is because they make very limited batches of stuff and don't have a lot of unsold inventory to clear out.

Try looking on eBay. TB stuff is fairly rugged so you can get decent bags at a lightly lower price when they are used.

I’ve found a great Deuter pack that way.

EBay has a feature where you can put in the parameters for your search. It will email you when the parameters are met. Just sit back and wait.

Do make sure you email the seller on specifics. I’d ask about any wear points. I’d also ask about material as TB has 2 types - ballistic and Halcyon. Keep the emails.

The answer is nope. Not ever.

As others will say, used TB bags are just as good as new TB bags so eBay could be a good resource with some risk.

If you spend a few hours looking around the Bihn corporate site, the user forums, and reading Tom’s philosophy regarding his company’s social responsibilities and commitments to his employees, I think you’d sympathize, if maybe not suddenly want to support those positions with a big ticket purchase.

I can tell you this: I have several TB shoulder bags and accessories and I recently acquired the Aeronaut 30. Great stuff. This stuff just reeks quality; “made in America” writ large and tangible. Tom Bihn’s gear is designed (and redesigned and tweaked) to perform exactly the tasks described and built to be passed on to your grandchildren. Tom Bihn makes buy-for-life goods.

You can find dozens of honest and in-depth reviews and video clips of any bag you’re considering.

Thank you for the replies and personal recommendations! I understand that you get what you pay for! I also appreciate that the bags are made in the USA and of very high quality. I am finally at the point in my life that I can afford to pay more for things of better quality. Buy once, cry once, right? Even so, I still like to get the best price I can, hence my question about a sale. I'm looking forward to making a purchase no matter the cost! Thanks again!

No sales.

Great quality. Great service. Great work ethic. They are what a company should be. They treat their employees very well.

But be aware, don't hold off buying a bag in a color you want. They do run out and it may take awhile to get the material in your color back in stock. This is not a mass production company.

If you are considering different Tom Bihn products for your traveling needs, it appears there are sufficient fans and TB users here to help you make a good decision. Post more information if you wish.

Has anyone used the TB small cafe bag? Looks like the perfect size for my travel purse.

Has anyone used the TB small cafe bag?

Yes, it's the perfect size (and it's somewhat unisex, which is to say that it's more utilitarian looking than feminine). It fits a 16-ounce water bottle (I use my little stainless steel thermos) and small umbrella easily as well.

The small Cafe has been my man bag for more than five years. Just big enough for a standard iPad, too. I also have the medium but rarely use it now that I don’t need to ever carry a MacBook again. The Ristretto is twice the price but has much more coolness.

I've also never seen sales on any Tom Bihn bags, and can't recall any "clearances" of older products. Your best bet for an answer to that question would be to send an E-mail to TB.

I love Tom Bihn products and own several. I do not have a Cafe bag because I don’t like vertically organized bags — I don’t like having to dig stuff out of the bottom.

I have used and liked a Packing Cube Shoulder Bag on many trips. It is a good size to hold what I like to have with me (small water bottle, lightweight LS shirt, wallet items, etc.).

I have recently purchased a Side Kick, which has more internal organization than the PCSB (which I still use as a packing cube). I’ll be trying it on my next trip.

Be sure to order plenty of key straps; they are my favorite feature of TB bags. I would lose my head if not for my neck, and everything important in my day bag is leashed so I can’t leave or drop anything (also a deterrent against pickpockets, but I worry more about my own forgetfulness). Greatly enhances my peace of mind when I travel!

TB makes excellent products, and I’m sure you will be happy with your purchase, whatever it winds up being.

I've got Side Kicks in three different colors. For me, they're an ideal everyday purse.
And yeah on the key leashes and little pouches being very useful for my bag organization needs.

I have a backpack and luggage addiction.

Tom Bihn is the only company that I unhesitatingly recommend to all of my friends. They all balked about the price until they got their bags.

Unlike most companies, they actively participate in their forum discussions and have refined their designs based on actual user input rather than potential cost saving measures.
