Moderately priced hotel near Museumplein

My husband and I are traveling to Amsterdam for 3 days in mid-March and I'm looking to book a moderately priced hotel near the Museumplein area. I have some limited mobility with stairs, so an elevator is a must. We're not too picky about the room itself since we don't expect to be there much other than to sleep and maybe rest a bit sometime during the day. And being close to the art museums would be a major draw.

I've tentatively booked us into The Concert Hotel on De Lairessestraat. We got a good rate through their website - €376 for a twin room for 3 nights, including breakfast. But it's refundable, and I'm continually on the lookout for a better option.

Anyone stay at The Concert that could share an honest review? Or recommend a different facility?

Thanks in advance.

What price works for you for a moderately priced room? It is on a tram line so that is convenient but the Trip Advisor reviews are kind of all over especially if you look at all languages. I have not stayed there.

Since you are going in mid-March did you know about the special Vermeer Exhibition at the Rijksmuseum? If that is of interest to you:

Your post might get more views in the Netherlands Destination Q& A area. You’ve posted in the reviews section, which is where people post reviews after they’ve stayed somewhere. Please also include your budget per night, since “moderately priced” varies by individual, and also by city.

Thanks travel4fun. I'm new to this forum so will do as you suggested.

And thanks also, Pam. We'll make sure to check out the Vermeer exhibit. One of my favorite artists.

We stayed in a B&B in the Museumplein in 2019 and it was on De Lairessestraat. I am not familiar with the Concert Hotel. I would recommend the great B&B but it was permanently closed during the Pandemic in 2020. We really enjoyed the charming neighborhood. That said, I have read positive reviews on this forum about two hotels in the area: Concious Hotel Vondel and Hotel Fita. You might want to look for other recommendations on this site by searching “hotels in the Museumplein.” Hope this helps. Enjoy your planning!

Go to Google Maps and enter Museumplein, Amsterdam. Then click on hotels at the top.

All of the hotels around that part of town will be highlighted with prices of their accommodations. Click on the icons to see the details and their direct email addresses.

Thanks all for the recommendations and tips.

We decided to book at the Leonardo Boutique Museumhotel on a corner across the street from the Singelgracht and quite near the Rijksmuseum. We got a fairly good rate on their website and hopefully they will honor our request for a quiet room in the rear of the hotel. The major online review complaint about them is the small rooms, but we're used to that with our European travel. In London, our room was at the top of the building and slightly larger than a closet! But we're only there to sleep and rest, so no biggie. I'll do a review of the hotel when we get back.

Very much looking forward to our trip to Amsterdam (as well as Berlin and Prague.) We have tickets to the Vermeer show at the Rijksmuseum and will tour the Van Gogh Museum as well. We may try to squeeze in a day trip to the The Hague for the art museums there if we're not too tired. And since we live in a smallish town in the Midwest where the only ethnic food is Mexican and Chinese, we're also quite excited about trying Indonesian and Dutch cuisine.

That hotel is in a nice location. I think it is right near the bus stop for the airport.

Hi,ilovepoosterboy
What did you think of the hotel? Will be traveling with my 90yrold dad who is pretty energetic but looking to minimize walking. I was looking at this hotel for our trip. What did you think? Any other suggestions for how you made the trip easier?
Thanks

Hi Diane ... I'm assuming you're asking about the Leonardo Boutique Museumhotel and not the Concert Hotel that I originally posted about.

The Leonardo had a lot of great things going for it: wonderful and very accommodating staff (we arrived arround 10 AM and they allowed us to check in early; they also packed a bag lunch for us at 5 AM the morning of our departure) and a fantastic breakfast if you include that with your room selection. It's in an excellent location for visiting the art museums on Museumplein (Rijksmuseum is literally right around the corner) and within fairly close walking distance to several tram and train stops as well as some good restaurants. It's also just across the road from the Blue Boat canal boat tours, which was really convenient.

Some drawbacks, though. The front entrance steps are extremely steep and I'm not sure if there is another accessible entrance. Our room was very small and the soundproofing from the room above us was non-existent. (Lots of stomping, for some reason.) There is an elevator, though, so if you got a room on the top floor without one above it that should eliminate most of the noise.

I'm in my mid-70s with some arthritis in my knees and ankles and I had a very hard time with the walking in Amsterdam. The predominantly cobblestone streets left me hurting and exhausted, and lots of the major sites were quite a distance from tram stops. Don't know how you get around that other than pacing yourself and maybe not planning too much for each day.

Thanks,so much. We decided to stay at the hotel the cruise we are joining will use . I'm studying the tram lines and planning to use cabs a lot. Luckily,we enjoy just riding the trams so that is a lot of what we will do beyond major sights. Thanks for the feedback
