Vermeer Exhibition Tickets on sale!

I got the email this morning from the Vermeer exhibition at the Rijksmuseum for next spring announcing that tickets are now on sale. They are 30E which also gives you admission to the Rijksmuseum in general.

Good plan Silas Marner!

I forgot to book thru the app so for those who haven’t bought yet, use the app to locate your digital ticket easily.

I'll be there mid-March. Be advised that Girl With a Pearl Earring will only be exhibited there through the end of March. But then it goes back to The Hague, which is only an hour away.

That’s interesting Phil, I had not seen that information! The Mauritshuis is certainly worth a visit as well.

Btw, with the exchange rate as it is the ticket charge of 30E came out to $29.75!😉

Ready to book my ticket for April, and wondering about timing.

Is first thing AM good? What about Sunday or Monday at 9AM, which would be best? I'm a morning person and prefer getting in early if that's a good time.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm going for first thing in the AM but I don't know if Sunday or Monday makes a difference. I would probably choose a Monday just to avoid any of the locals who are visiting on their days off work.

I, too, am an early morning person and have been to the Rijksmuseum special exhibition space in the afternoon. It felt hot and crowded so I thought that would work better for me as well.

Glad you are going!

Thanks, my thoughts were the same. I'm finally getting things booked and plans are coming together. I'm now getting excited :)

The last special exhibition I went to at Rijksmuseum they suggested you download the Rijksmuseum app and they had a special audiotour on there for the exhibition. I'll watch to see if this is the case for the Vermeer exhibition and will also have my phone and earbuds in my purse when I visit!

Glad you are getting excited!

The museum is closed at 17:00, normally the last slot is 15:30. But during Vermeer exhibition time, the last slot is 16:30. I emailed them, here's the reply:

"The permanent collection closes at 17:00, but the Vermeer exhibition closes at 18:00. The permanent collection within the Vermeer ticket. Only, you start with Vermeer and can continue your visit at the permanent collection.
If you choices 16:30 as a starting time, you won't be able to visit the permanent collection."

Just be aware.

I ended up buying tickets for two days in March. One the morning after I am scheduled to arrive, and one for the day after. If my flight is delayed, hopefully that way I'm covered. If not, I'm either out €30, or I just go back to see it again after I have slept on it overnight. This exhibit can't be missed. I still hope they decide to ship/include "The Art of Painting" from Vienna, otherwise it will be the only Vermeer in Europe that I won't have seen. If any Vermeer fans here feel like meeting up, send me a PM.

Phil, booking 2 entries is a great idea! I'd considered it as well and wound up booking for the day after my first full day. Did you happen to see the "All the Rembrandts" exhibition in 2019? I could really have used a 2nd pass at that one as well. I'd love to meet up but won't be there til early April!

Outabout12 - thanks for that additional information on the times.

I did not see the Rembrandt exhibit. But I almost missed the Dresden Vermeer exhibit in 2021 because they wouldn't let me on my original flight to Europe due to the airline not understanding Germany's pandemic entry requirements. I ended up flying in a day late and missed my pre-purchased ticket time. Fortunately, the museum let me in anyway, but it could have ended up worse.

Wow, I am sure that has made you skittish! I’m so glad the museum let you in!

I can't believe I haven't already posted on this thread. About a month ago, we made what was for us a surprisingly spontaneous decision to take a February RS tour, and visit the Vermeer exhibit while we were there. Actually, the fact that the Vermeer exhibit was there was what tipped us over. And it was much easier to get tickets than I feared.

Jane, laughing, because I, too, am shocked that you haven't posted here. Maybe you posted on one of the earlier Vermeer threads?

That sounds awesome! I'm in for April 12 or 13! I figured I would post nearer to the time as well since I'll be in Paris...one of my favorite meet up places, lol!!

Maybe there should be a meet up for RS folks at the Vermeer exhibit!
Lol

I'm game. I'll be there March 15–18.

The Rijksmuseum has put more tickets up for sale for the exhibit. There appears to be
tickets available for most days, starting at 9am until 10 or 10:30, and then at the end of
the day. As of posting time, the website is slammed, so be persistent!

I am DESPERATE for one ticket to this. Yes desperate LOL. Any day, any time. Jumped on too late before all were sold out. If anyone with multiple tickets for multiple days can find it within themselves to take pity on me and graciously sell me one I'd be forever grateful!

I am interested in purchasing three tickets to the Vermeer exhibition on May 3 or 4 OR two tickets on May 5 or 6.

I suspect the 175E for the tour is overpriced but probably worth it with the Rijksmuseum tour as well. They are not allowed to guide within the Vermeer exhibition but meet afterward for coffee and a chat and then a tour of the Rijks.

Lisa, thank you for posting that link as I'm sure others will evaluate for themselves whether they would want to go this route.

I agree that it's a bit steep! But if I'm going to be in Amsterdam and have a way to see this exhibit, I'm going to, and you're right that it includes a tour of the museum as well.

I have 2 tickets available (sadly had to cancel travel). They are for this Satuday April 8 5:15pm entry time.

Thank you Dutch_Traveler for the link. I also has a pair of Vermeer tickets that I no longer needed so posted them on ticket swap within one minute they were 'reserved' and were sold within 15 minutes.
