We hate driving in the inner cities. Does anyone have a recommendation for a place to stay in Ragusa that minimizes complicated narrow street driving and has some access to parking? Many thanks!
I’ve not visited Ragusa, yet, but I bookmarked this recent post where OP ( Wanderlust58) wrote a review about Evoca B&B:
Evoca B&B in Ragusa
Enjoy your time in beautiful Sicily!
We didn’t have a car there, but when I’m looking for a hotel like that, I use booking.com, put parking into the filters, then when you get a few, message the property directly to ask them the specifics. For Ragusa, I can’t remember anything that was in Ibla, as that is the historic center. You are most likely to find hotels with parking in Superior.
I stayed in Ragusa Ibla, and parked in the free lot below town. My friend stayed in Ragusa Superior and I drove to drop her at her hotel. The streets near the sights in Superior are narrow and jammed with parked cars. Driving there required patience. I wouldn't want to rely on finding street parking.
I was much happier with the parking lot and walking up to my hotel in Ibla. Our hotel hosts picked us up on arrival to transport our luggage.
CWsocial,
Where did you stay in Ragusa Ibla?
And where did your friend stay in Ragusa Superior?
Thanks!
Priscilla, I stayed at the very lovely Sabbinirica in Ragusa Ibla. It was delightful, with narrow, winding stairs to some rooms. My Classic Room had a lovely view from its tiny balcony of the Santa Domenica valley.
I wrote a bit more about it in this post, including details of the parking lot below, from which our hosts picked us up with our luggage.
My friend stayed in the Hotel Vittorio Veneto, Corso Vittorio Veneto, 93, 97100 Ragusa RG, Italy. I never went inside, so can't say anything about it other than it being on a narrow (one-way, as I recall) street in Ragusa Superior, with cars lining both sides.
Thanks CWsocial!
The SABBINIRICA looks great, I’d be happy staying in the economy room!
I will add this accommodation to my list for a future trip!
The hosts were wonderful. Breakfast was just off reception, down a few stairs. I remember choice of prepared coffees.
On arrival in the parking lot, we texted the hosts. So you'd need text or data for WhatsApp. We left the car in the free lot until departure. You could easily use Ragusa as a base for day trips, using the stairs to get from any hotel in Ibla to the lot. Just take caution to avoid the ZTL on your return. It's easy to get turned around...I know!
