Amalfi day tour originating in amalfi

it seems like all amalfi day tours originate in sorrento or amalfi. we are planning abtrip for next sept and am staying on amalfi in amalfi plus staying in capri, sorrento and naples. I would love to do a tour of Amalfi towns but again originating in amalfi. ate there local companies that do these yours just of amalfi from Amalfi and not Sorrento or Naples. Thank you!

Sue, your post is confusing. What 'towns' exactly are you wishing to do with a tour from the city of Amalfi? As well, your prior posts from 2023 indicate that you've already been to and are familiar with the area (Positano, Amalfi/Atrani, Capri, Ravello, Sorrento, Naples) so not sure what, more exactly, you're wanting to get out of a tour of the same next year, if that's the question?

Disregard 2023 post. We are staying in amalfi town. Would like a day tour to positano, ravello, Priano, etc. we could probsbly do path of lemons to minori on our own on another day

So just curious: where did you stay and what towns did you visit on that last trip? Might help us drill down to the best information. Also, are you looking mostly for a driver, or a driver + tour guide? They're often not licensed for same services so you might need both; something else to consider.

I've also seen Joe Banana Limos recommended several times on the forums. You might contact them and see if they could do a customized tour from Amalfi for you? You would need to specify if you'd also need a guide as well as a driver, if their drivers aren't licensed for both, and I'd expect the combo to be pricey.

I agree, your post is confusing. Why not just take the ferry between towns and use a good guidebook. I remember the towns being very small and very crowded. We walked the Path of Lemons from Maiori to Minori and then took the ferry between the more southern towns to have lunch then explore.

Why do you need a tour to go from Amalfi to Positano? Are you not ok with bus or ferry?

Just thought a scheduled tour highlighting and giving info is better than doing it on our own and not speaking the language!

English is widely spoken and just wandering around is the best way to explore. You do not need a tour. And you will not get lost.

so it sounds like we should just get ourselves to Positano, Ravello and the path of lemons in Maori/Minori rather than schefuling and paying probably big bucks for a day long tour?

Actually, you are not asking for anything strange. We were a party of 4 based in Positano, and we hired a driver to see the coastline as well as Ravello and Amalfi town. It was totally enjoyable because we didn't have to drive or fight bus lines. We had a wonderful lunch in Ravello, toured Villa Rufolo as well as the pottery store on the way. Was it pricey---Yes but worth it for us.

We used https://www.facebook.com/topexcursionsorrento. The drivers all spoke great English and were very informative of the area.

Have fun!

Thanks so much! Yes I agree. Seems easier to have someone take us as well.

I discourage you from taking a tour from Amalfi, or from anywhere else for that matter, to Ravello unless the operator specifically states that you’ll have ample time to visit both Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. I once took the tour Rick Steves recommends from Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast, and we barely had time to rush through Villa Rufolo and completely missed Villa Cimbrone. Does it make sense to travel several thousand miles, be a 10-minute walk from Villa Cimbrone, and not be able to visit it? It’s ridiculous. Fortunately, I later stayed in Amalfi and had time to see both villas at a relaxed pace.

If you don’t want to take the bus, arrange taxis or a driver, but honestly, skip tours. The bus from Amalfi to Ravello is easy to take and a taxi is not really needed. The bus from Ravello to Amalfi is harder, no one seems to know when the next bus is coming, so from Ravello to Amalfi the taxi makes sense.

Going from Amalfi to Positano is easy via bus or ferry and returning to Amalfi is easy via ferry. You don’t need a tour at all.
