We are looking for reasonable accommodations in City Center, Florence probably near the train station for three nights in May. Any recommendations?

Florence's historc center is pretty compact so while I'd check the actual locations of the hotel's mentioned, I wouldn't expect them to be a loooong walk from the station.

Besides perusing previous posts in this forum, you can also rely on Booking.commor TripAdvisor,or similar to find what you like. Any hotel in the historical center will be within walking distance from the station, although frankly, some areas near the station would not be my first choice.
Go to freemaptools.com. Zoom into Florence map. Then draw a 1km circle from Piazza della Signoria. Any hotel in that circle will be well located.
