Hello, I am flying into Venice with a layover at Heathrow. Will I go through customs in Heathrow or in Venice? And I will also be flying later into athens and then after that, from athens to paris will I go through customs in greece and france also?, thank you for any info
Is it one ticket or two?
One ticket
All flights will be single tickets
ellymayrowe19 this is answered pretty well on your other post https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/venice-customs-time
In Venice, at Heathrow you should stay in the secure area and in transit..just be sure to stay airside. Flying to both Athens and Paris, you will not do any immigration. You will of course have security and need to show ID.
You do not mention where you are flying home from, but when you exit the Schengen area (to fly back to the US or to London) you will go through Exit immigration.
That will be from Paris CDG
Thank you.Paul, this fully answered everything that I needed to know.
Just to clarify
- Immigration (passport/border control) is for people
- Customs is for your goods/baggage
At Heathrow, you will follow the Flight Connection signs.
Go to this page and it will give you step by step instructions on what to do at Heathrow:

You will not go through immigration and customs. If you have any checked luggage it should be checked through to Venice.
At Venice you will go through immigration and customs.
Departing, you will go through exit immigration in Paris.
No other immigration is necessary although it could be added temporarily.
All the countries you're visiting, except the UK, are part of the Schengen Agreement meaning free travel between those countries.
