Where Is Norma?

Has anyone noticed that it has been 3 months since Norma last posted? I have always enjoyed her wit and wisdom. She had been many places, and always had good advice to give. I hope she is on a long vacation, and not ill. Does anyone know if she maybe got tired of the Rick Steves Forum? Nah, couldn't be!

Rebecca you are right.. just noticed.. I am going to look back on some pms we exchanged.
I like her too.

That thought occurred to me the other day and was going to post the same question. Looks like she moved in June and changed her email address, and lost her 5000+ star. So now she has like 3 posts showing.

Email comes back "Delivery failed permanently", so yes, old email is shut down. I am still showing 5432 posts to her name. Last post was 6/13/2016. Hmmm.
Sam, where did you see her with 3 posts showing? I have been looking for her.

Click on her name and look at her most recent posts, mid June if I recall.

I'm pretty sure she is friends outside of this forum with some members here and hopefully someone has been in contact with her and will post here. I almost always liked her comments on some of the posts on here. I guess I'm just not very observant because I hadn't even noticed that it's been so long. I also double checked my PM's and that last one I got from her was back in May.

Certainly hope all is well with her.

Thanks so much Mona! Somehow, I had not seen that! Whew! Good to know she's OK!

Pat and Sam and Nancy, thanks for your replies!

Rebecca,

Thank you for posting this thread. I had worried about her as well, realizing several weeks ago that I'd not seen any recent posts. I remembered she had given her phone number to me when we were planning a trip to Canada a year or two ago, in case we ran into any problems, etc. I thought about digging thru old PMs to find it, but then remembered my phone plan does not allow me to dial from the US to Canada. But, I am oh so glad she is alive and well.

Norma we do miss you, your helpful posts, and your great wit!! Thanks again for all your advice and kindness with the Montreal portion of our trip to Eastern Canada. Maybe we'll get back some day to complete the rest of the itinerary, since it was so suddenly cut short (ugh). We still want to see the Bay of Fundy.

So last post was late July... that's almost two months. I too hope she's ok!

Hey Margaret and Susan! New norma posted twice on 6/29/2016 and once on 7/20/2016. That's all. Nothing since then. I hope the Webmaster can work some of his magic, and give her her old identity back, with those 5000+ posts.

Judging from the thread Mona posted, Norma is OK. She just went through a move from one home to another. We all know how stressful that can be. She changed internet providers, and lost her email connection to her old account.

Norma, we all hope you are well, and that everything is getting better for you now that the move is over.

Come back, Norma! Losing Ed from Pensacola was traumatic enough!

Oh, crikey, I just typed a big long (and of course, witty!) reply and it suddenly disappeared from my screen. Blast. Anyway, I have been following the forum all these months and it is as informative and fun as ever. I have had plenty to say from time to time but having lost my gold star status (among the many life changes caused by moving house) my credibility was gone too so I kept quiet. Not easy for an opinionated person always eager to add my two Canadian cents' worth, I can tell you! I am now encouraged to join the fray again. Thanks all.

Yay!!! Rah!!!!

Welcome Home....

I didn't say much because I was afraid that you had moved into Montreal General.

You never lose your credibility with me!!!

Your new name should be "FormerlyNorma" or "DYKWIA"! Your opinions are always welcome whether its 5 or 5000 its still Norma!

That was close! I'm glad you all talked Norma back into posting. The forum is missing something without her.

Norma,
It's so very good to read your post.
Let's hope the RS staff can figure out a way to add your (originally accumulated) post count next to your name. It's the long-time, experienced travelers like you that make the Forum what it is. Even the airlines have a method to transfer points.
Thank you, again, for being so very helpful!

Yay, Norma! I'll never forget your story about the French dog wearing eyeglasses. So great to hear from you!

Yay!!! Norma is back! I am so glad you are back, and feeling like your witty self again! Hope you are getting de-stressed from your move now.

In the last several days, while looking for you, I had seen a new poster's name whom I thought might be you, incognito. The name? thebutlerdidit.

Glad you are back Norma and certainly hope the webmaster can get your star back for you. After all that hard work answering over 5000 questions, you deserve it!

Welcome back Norma. Maybe your new name should be Norma>5Kposts from Montreal, then we would know who you are. Lol just kidding. Glad you're ok and back among us.

Welcome back Norma! ;-)

I do hope the Websmaster can get your gold star back, you certainly deserve it!

So glad to see you Norma! But your credibility is NOT determined by a gold star or the number 5,000 posts by your name. It's present in every post you write.!! (but i can understand how one could be a little frustrated).

Good for Rebecca!

I'm pretty sure we'd recognize you without the star. Good advice, especially good advice combines with wit and thoughtfulness, is always needed.

Nice to see you back Norma but the gold star issue is not important.. I often don't listen to people who have lots of posts .. and often do find new posters with only a few dozen posts have the best advice.. its not posts that count its experience .. and similar travel expectations and experience.

Richard and Darcy: I am recovering nicely and no longer in the ICU. Oh, and Darcy? I'll have vanilla, please.

Oh no! I can't believe I missed a story about a French dog wearing eyeglasses! Norma, please retell the story for the dog lovers who missed it!

I have heard that a good way to recover from a Postcountectomy is an ocean voyage on one of the Cunard ships, say a trip from NY to Southampton.

Thanks Susan! There's nothing quite like a little pampering....and they will have the vanilla ice cream she is wanting. And probably some Crème brûlée as well.

Norma, would you like French Vanilla or Vanilla Bean? I have Vanilla Bean in the freezer--hold on, I'll run it over to you!
