Margaret just posted this thread about the unavailability of hotels in Edinburgh during the Swift concert. If anyone is planning a trip overseas (both to Europe and Asia), it would be a VERY good idea to check the concert schedule and check hotel availability as early as possible. You can access the Swift international tour schedule here: https://www.taylorswift.com/tour/
Mardee, thank you!
Good information. Crowds for concerts fill up not only the hotels but restaurants in the area, too.
When I start to check hotel availability, if there seems to be a tight market, I usually wind up searching for events going on in the area. I have run into Marathons disrupting my plans, major gatherings/conventions, and anybody trying to book a room in Munich in the latter half of September sees the effect of a popular event on both availability and prices of rooms.
Always good to check, keep in mind there are other things that cause the same problem. Edinburgh also suffers a bit in that it is not that large city for a big event, so supply will be tight (probably like trying to find a room during Fringe Festival, though that is spread out over a month). The stadium the concert will be held at can hold over 10% of the towns population, and she will fill it three times, on consecutive nights, meaning not only a crowd, but overlapping crowds. London or Paris may not suffer quite as much, not a drop in a bucket, but at least a splash in a much bigger pool.
