I think of it as "just roll with it". Basically not get discouraged by the unexpected and enjoy the adventure. Adjust as needed. It's going to be hot, so will need to modify plans. Post giving heads up.

From the context of the post, I assumed he meant "People who read this Forum."

That doesn't answer your larger question, though. I'll sit back and enjoy the ensuing posts.

Edmond, the OP meant those on the forum who said they were coming. Nothing more elusive than that.

Go with the flow, don't get grumpy, arrive at the bus on time, travel light, see the world with wonder.

Mr. E, thank you.
BTW, I've been reading many of your posts on the forum. They are full of information and insights. Thanks.

If someone just randomly asked me to define "RS Types," I would in a very general, broad-based way say:
"People who are interested in the world, do some (or a lot) of research before their trips, are somewhat value-oriented (but maybe not always, and are somewhat better educated than the general Joe on the street in America."

Then, I would also add that those individuals may not (or maybe they have) have done a lot of travel in Europe. I think (again in a broad-based GUESS way), I think Rick Steves attracts both the newbies to European travel and the very experienced (who value his knowledge and the knowledge of fellow travelers, like on this Forum). There is no way any of us can know everything!

In a very broad-based way, I think the Rick Steves' type traveler MIGHT be more physically fit than some other travelers from the US to Europe.

Again, broad-based generalizations -- ALWAYS many exceptions.

I aspire to be an "RS type." I have traveled internationally a fair bit and plan to do a lot more in the future. The more I learn from experience how to travel 'well', the more I realize how little I know. Like so many posters, I enjoy dreaming of the next trip and putting in the hours of research to make it happen. I am impressed with the supportive nature of the advice in this forum community. I can count on honest assessments based on experience and research. I appreciate the suggestions on how to improve the quality of my travel experience without busting my budget. Your tips have become indispensable to my trip planning. Many great memories from several countries are a result of what I learned here. I think "RS type" is a badge of honor.

Europe.

I guess that and the grumpy rules me out.

I'm more of a K-Mart type i guess. But hey, met three Americans today thanks to my ball cap.

There are 2 types as exemplified on the forum. The sure ones and the ones who are always checking and rechecking to see if their travel will have a total absence of FOMO.
The latter post the questions, and the former answer them.

There are 2 types on this forum: Those that classify things into two types; those that don't classify things into two types; and finally, those who can't count.

Kmart? Isn't that extinct-- like the Dodo bird or clever people from Cleveland?

Fear of missing out? Carpe diem! See it all and then some!

There is travel and then there is dawdling!

(As I get older, I dawdle. Ah to be young again!)

Happy travels.

I think of a Rick Steves type as a person who has a limited time and a tight budget and wants to pack as much as they possibly can into their limited time and tight budget. As exemplified by "What do you think of this agenda?" And their agenda is 5 cities in 10 days.

RS types travel without a lot of luggage and usually use public transportation. They do not take selfies, especially in front of paintings. They usually spend for experiences, rather than for fancy hotels. They usually carry his guidebooks or the torn-out pages. They don't expect people, places, manners, laws, and governments to be like those back home.

Mr. E, I hope that ball cap isn't what I think it is. If it is what I think it is, bless your heart.

“An RS type”

We check the latest on the travel forum with our morning coffee. : )

Generally I would say that we have an interest in continual learning, an openness to change, and a sensitive side to people of other cultures. We tend to pack lighter than the norm. We are trying to seize the moment as potential travel years ebb.

But from just the people in my local RS monthly group, there’s lots of variety which I love! We represent a broad variety in our personal backgrounds, in whether we prefer tours to independent travel, whether we prefer staying a few places for a longer time or moving often. A variety in our budgets & plane seat choices. We tend to agree on really important aspects like all coffee drinks at our favorite local bakery need to be served with some type of sweet! And we love to laugh & encourage each other!

cala, no, it's a tasteful Texas Aggies cap.

Okay, so now I am disqualified from the RS club for being grumpy, buying luggage at K-Mart, wearing my aggie cap .... and now .... at the graduation of the niece of my S.O. yesterday, taking SELFIES with her in front of a university landmark in Hungary.

Im not a tour type for any company, confirmed solo independent traveler.
BUT I value the RS travel forum because there are many informed and knowledgeable travelers who post on the forum and I have found useful information to use in my travel style.
