Its summer and the forum is lighting up with temperature concerns.
Its 2:30pm and my phone says it's 90F in Budapest. A quick Google says the humidity is 25% and the breeze is 8mph. I am sitting outside in the shade at Palack Wine Bar & Bistro, which is just above the Danube embankment on the Buda side. It would be hard to expect a more comfortable situation any time of the year.
I know we have a few RS types coming to Budapest, so ....
- Yes, it can and does hit 100F a few times a year but thats not a typical day.
- The humidity tends to be below 30% and it's true that this makes a difference. 90F here can feel like 80F in Houston.
- There is almost always a breeze in Budapest, thanks to the Danube I presume and that further reduces the discomfort of the heat.
- Shorts and sun dresses are fine
- The hottest part of the day is 4 pm to 6 pm so that is museum time and if it's a particularly warm day take the metro instead of a tram or walking.
- Walk in the shade. The narrow streets and tall buildings almost always make this possible.
- Head for the river where it always feels a bit cooler and the breeze
is unobstructed.
- Head for the Buda hills where the temps are quite a bit lower.
- Drink white wine instead of red
What did i forget?
