Hi,
We will be travelling to London for the first time in 20 years (!). We plan to spend time at the British Museum and Churchill's War Rooms. I am looking for recommendations for hotels that are centrally located, and no more than $250. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi, srs6277, here are some very recent posts about London hotels. You might want to take a look through these and see what works for you.

At that price point, I'd suggest looking at any of the numerous Premier Inns around London. They are all pretty much the same. I've stayed in many around the UK and even in London and they never disappoint.
Thank you for the tip! Do you have any location, in particular, that I should look at?
On my most recent trip to London, I planned to take multiple trips to the British Museum--which is monstrously large, with a ground floor so crowded that it's more pleasant to tackle it in modest segments. I opted for the Premier Inn Holborn, which was within walking distance of the Museum--about 1/2 mile away. The hotel is on a quiet street. This isn't a particularly cheap area of London, so there are less expensive options elsewhere.
On a previous trip I stayed at the Premier Inn Country Hall, which is down near Waterloo Station and a short walk (across the bridge) from Parliament, the Churchill War Rooms, etc. This is a popular Premier Inn on this forum, but it is often less expensive than the Holborn location.
There are many other perfectly fine possibilities. Since I suspect you'll be making more than one trip to the British Museum, I'd make note of the Underground stations close to hotels under consideration, then refer to a map of the Underground to see whether I could get the British Museum without changing trains; that would reduce your travel time. The two Underground stations closest to the Museum's rear entrance (sometimes less busy, but on one occasion it was only accessible to tour groups) are Russell Square and Goodge Street. For the front entrance, Tottenham Court Road and Holborn are closest.
You can’t get any closer to the British Museum than the Montague at the Gardens hotel, as it’s literally just across the street, and it is very nice, but quite a bit more expensive than your stated budget. They sometimes have deals at quieter times of the year, such as (for our visit last February) a free fourth night if you paid for at least three plus a 50 pound dining credit.
You might take a look at the Celtic, just off Russell Square in Bloomsbury. It's minutes away from two tube stops, as well as the Russell Square bus stop.
Here's a review I posted a couple of years ago. The price has gone up, but is still in your budget. We've just booked a double with breakfast for this fall; price £165 per night.
For the past few years we have been using the Best Western Victoria Station. The annex is cheaper. Decent area with a couple of handy pubs.
Please note that the bathrooms in Z Hotels are enclosed in glass. Everything you do in the bathroom is visible and there is no privacy. In case that is a important to anyone considering this hotel.

That still boggles my mind that any hotel would do something like that. Why?

Mardee, I stayed in a room as a single so it didn't bother me. Anyway, Z Hotel rooms are TINY, even by European standards. Some rooms don't even have windows. I think using glass for the bathroom walls is a way to make things feel less claustrophobic?
