We are staying in Salzburg for 4 nights. Would like to be located within walking distance of the sights.
We had a nice stay at the Imlauer Hotel Pitter. It’s across the street from Mirabell Palace, and it is walkable to the historic center. There’s also a bus stop right outside that was very quick and easy.
A few years back we had a pleasant stay at Hotel Weisse Taube right in the historic Old Town. Close to key sites. We were there in late November and the beautiful Christmas market was just a few steps away.
Boutique Hotel am Dom. Can't beat the location and the staff is fantastic. This is the place i use.
Like Pat, I also stayed at the Hotel Weisse Taube (Sept. 2022). Very convenient. You might find my trip report helpful:
We did take a taxi from the train station to the hotel, but there is also a bus or you could walk.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bristol Salzburg. It is in Makartplatz and is a great location within walking distance of the train station and near Mirabell Gardens.
We stayed at Hofwirt Hotel Salzburg. It is right at the beginning of the pedestrian area, reasonable rates, wonderful staff, and a great included breakfast. (Rooms arent large but clean and comfortable!) Ten minute bus ride from the train station. Easily walk to attractions and many restaurants. Be sure to take the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress for spectacular views of the city and surrounding countryside. Enjoy everything Sound of Music with either a bike tour (Fraulein Maria Bicycle Tours) or bus tour (Original Sound of Music Tour). Three days in Salzburg is plenty of time.
