Hotel Auersperg Salzburg review

It’s called the Hotel & Villa Auersperg because its 55 rooms are spread out over two buildings from the early 1900s, which are right next to each other with a parking lot in-between. I think they have Tesla charging ports, confirm that. The hotel part has the reception desk and dining room and mini-spa. It’s a four story building with an elevator, but be aware it’s the kind of building with lots of little steps so perhaps could be a problem for those with mobility issues. There is a pleasant courtyard behind with lounge chairs and a small fountain.

We were in the hotel part, our room had a vaguely Ikea kind of vibe with stylish but not too comfortable chairs and a glass coffee table that kept threatening to remove our shins. The bathroom was wedged against one wall of the room with a ¾ wall separating, it felt like it was the best compromise they could come up with but it was clunky. Nice shower but as usual in Europe, there’s no lip with the door so it tends to drain all over the floor. Opening windows. Bright and cheery dining room with a great breakfast spread.

It's almost but not quite walkable from the train station, for your initial arrival you should take the 10 minute taxi ride since you have bags. After that you can walk to and from. It’s up in the flat part of town so hills are not an issue and if you’re driving, this is the part of town where you need to be staying.

Right around the corner is Die Weisse, a famous brewery in town that gets a Rick mention. Across from that is an Italian place that we enjoyed called Beccofino, prices were reasonable for large portions and it had locals eating there. One oddity is that during our meal an entire tour group came streaming in, seriously there were 50 or 60 of them. They went to a back room and were fed a pre-arranged standard meal, we thought for sure this meant we’d never see our server again but the restaurant was obviously very used to this and they worked it well. Online reviews of this place keep mentioning non-gluten pizza so perhaps they are known for that.
