This warning has been posterd on the England forum but also applies to Wales.
Made me jump when my phone went off!
I was having a nap on the couch and it gave me a proper fright. When I picked up the phone I didn't see any message though. I don't know if I accidentally swiped it away half asleep or something?
I think if you touched the screen it just disappeared.
I jumped when it went off and jabbed at the screen to stop the noise and the message just disappeared before I could read more than the first line. Seems like a bit of a design flaw!
That is a bit of a design flaw. That must have been what happened Emma. As soon as I touched the phone it was gone.
A bit out of place here in the Wales forum, but everything is absolutely parched in London. My local public parks are like tinder. I wouldn't be surprised if there's more fires. Never seen anything like it in this country.
I share a back garden with the two flats upstairs and my neighbour put down some astroturf over the slabs a few years ago. I thought it was a bit naff at first but it's grown on me. I think we have the only green lawn in London, albeit it's plastic :)
I think if you touched the screen it just disappeared.
That happened to me too. I had to google Government emergency alert to find out what the message was...
Sky news is reporting this morning that the first message was sent in Welsh with the English translation being sent 5 minutes later, which spearked a real panic among the non Welsh speaking population.
Absolutely bonkers to have the warning in Welsh first and English second. Welsh is spoken by about 18% of the population of Wales- who can also speak English. English is spoken by just about everybody - including foreign visitors. Same on the trains run by Transport for Wales - Welsh first. Recently the Welsh Government declared that the Brecon Beacons would from henceforth be only known by their Welsh name = Bannau Breckeiniog.
