Transport to Llechwedd Slate Caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog

HI,

My wife and I are planning on visiting the Slate Caverns on a Saturday morning. We'll be traveling down from Conwy on the Conwy valley rail line. My understanding is that the rail terminus is about a mile from the slate caverns. I'm looking for suggestions on how to get from the rail station to the caverns (and back) without walking. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The website for the slate caverns says "can get here on the fabulous Ffestiniog Railway – with just a short connecting bus ride" so I would guess you could take the short bus ride.

On the other hand if it is only a short mile you could probably walk it in 20 minutes....

Sorry I cannot help much more except to say it is feasible to walk as there is a paved footpath all the way along the road. Maybe you should contact through the Quarry website and ask.
Beware, if getting on at Conwy a couple of minutes later you change trains at Llandudno Junction.

Thanks for the replies so far.

The train is not going to work- we're going to use the X1 bus instead, which allows us to get to the caverns earlier, and leave at a reasonable hour in the afternoon. I read in the Rick Steves Great Britain book about maybe we can use the bus, but I've been unable to find a link to a time table to figure out when we could catch it. I have sent an e mail to the caverns web site, but as yet have not received a reply. Thanks for your replies!
