Severn Tunnel closure impacting trains in and out of Wales

We are planning a train journey on an Arriva train from Conwy to Bath that involves a change from train to bus to train with 5' in between in Newport. Does anyone have experience with these changes and the likelihood of making them? And if the connection is missed, what are the consequences?

This sort of thing is fairly old hat in this part of the world.

When you get to the point of Rail Replacement Service they tell you where to go to get your bus, they fill the buses up and off they go. At the other end they tell you where the train is and you get on it and it goes.

Look out for walking between rows of plastic tape, look out for signs and listen to what people in yellow or blue or pink vests tell you to do.

You say you have five feet? I don't get that.

Do not worry about missing the connection. A series of buses will be go back and forth pretty well continuously linking Newport station with Bristol Parkway. If, on arrival at Bristol Parkway, no train to Bath is leaving soon, try and take a train to Bristol Temple Meads = the city centre station in Bristol. You can expect a train to leave Temple Meads for Bath roughly every 15 minutes. It takes about 12 minutes by train from Parkway to Temple Meads. Plenty of staff will be on hand to give advice. You will certainly not be abandoned.

For Nigel - in the cartography world, the apostrophe looking symbol designates a minutes value when reading a map location in degrees - minutes - seconds. Cheers...
