I plan to pick up a rental car up at the Cardiff airport on a Wednesday, March 21st and returning it in the Conwy/Llandudno area on a Sunday, March 25th and am having hard a time finding a company that is open on Sunday and allows returns to a location different from the pick-up spot. Any suggestions?
My other option is to return it Saturday morning (most places seem to close by noon) so also wondering if I can see the highlights without a car. I am arriving Friday afternoon, staying just outside the wall and heading back to London on Sunday morning.
What are your plans Wednesday-Friday? Cardiff isn't a particularly close location to Conwy (allow 4 hours with a break). Depending on what you want to do with those days it might be a waste of money with a better option available.
The current plan is to spend Wednesday and Thursday night in Aberystwyth and then drive to Conwy Friday morning. Thinking of stopping in either Tenby or St. David's on the way to Abserytwyth from Cardiff.
Try enterprise. They have locations both in Cardiff and in Llandudno Junction.
I have no idea if this idea is helpful or totally off-base. But airports have the longest car rental hours. The closest airport to Conwy is Liverpool. Looking quickly on Google Maps, it's about 1.5 hours from Conwy to Liverpool airport, so not too far.
I can't help with the car rental but unless you have a reason to be in Aberystwyth I'd suggest spending a night in Tenby or Saundersfoot and then try Aberaeron rather than Aberystwyth for your second night. It's more attractive and Aberystwyth has the disadvantage of being a university town.
Looks like Avis in Llandudno has a key drop option available for any day/hours they are not open. Also, decided to spend 1 night in Tenby before heading to Aberystwyth for 1 night. Thank you to all for your helpful replies/suggestions.
