One day in Holyhead Wales

We have one day ashore in Holyhead Wales, any suggestions what we should see and experience. I'm not afraid to drive a rental car there.

If you can hire a car, you could head for any of the beaches of Anglesey. However, you may prefer to visit Plas Newydd - which is found on the eastern side of Anglesey.http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/plas-newydd-country-house-and-gardens

You could combine Plas Newydd with a visit to Caernarfon (on the mainland) - which has a massive medieval castle.http://www.caernarfon-castle.co.uk

(You could reach Caernarfon by public transport from Holyhead - train to Bangor plus a short bus ride). See:- http://www.traveline.cymru

You could go by train from Holyhead to Conwy - which also has a large medieval castle. (Virgin trains do not stop at Conwy but they do stop 1 mile east at Llandudno Junction. Most Arriva Trains Wales services will stop at Conwy - just tell the guard so he can inform the driver). You could combine Conwy Castle with a visit to nearby Llandudno. Alternatively - just drive across Anglesey and into the mountains of Snowdonia. Go over the Llanberis Pass and then back via one of the other routes through the mountains. You could combine this with Caernarfon Castle.
