You might like to know that Westjet are from May 2016 going to have direct flights between Toronto and Cardiff.
This will solve the problem of taking expensive trains from the London area to Cardiff and south Wales. Such flights can also be used to reach places in SW England such as Bath which has direct trains hourly from Cardiff taking about 1 hour. Direct trains (every 30 minutes usually) also link Cardiff with Cheltenham - taking 1 hour 15 minutes and that can be a jumping off point for the Cotswolds. Cardiff also has direct trains (hourly) to Exeter and up The Marches line to places like Hereford and Shrewsbury.
Cardiff Airport is located near the coast SW of the city and has a bus link from the terminal to Rhoose station (2 miles away) for trains to the city centre. Those wishing to go to SW Wales should take westbound trains from Rhoose direct to Bridgend and then change for places like Swansea / Pembrokeshire.
