We will be staying in Beddgelert for 3 days in late September. What hiking trails (easy to moderate) and day drives and other adventures do you recommend?

For a hike - take A4085 a few miles NW to Rhyd Ddu and park. Follow the Rhyd Ddu trail up Snowdon. You can see it on Google Street view but do check out the higher bits as this is not gentle walk.

I shall refer to Google Map. (You will need to zoom out to see the routes below).

For a drive - take A498 NE and at Pen Y Gwrd turn L onto A4086 to go over the Llanberis Pass. (At Llanberis village - the Snowdon Mountain Railway goes to the summit). After Llanberis village turn R onto A4244 but soon after - turn R down minor road to view Lake Peris before returning to A4244. At roundabout swing R and stay on A4244 to junction with A5 and then turn R. You are now on what was the old stagecoach route through the mountains via the Nant Ffrancon Pass. If you can park near the summit, you will find an easy trail going S to Llyn Idwal. Return to A5 and continue E to Capel Curig where you turn R and head S back to Beddgelert.

Another day drive - head south on A498 and take L turn onto A4085 in the Aberglaslyn gorge. Continue south of A496 and go and see Harlech Castle, Continue south on A496 to seaside town of Barmouth. Park and walk to view Mawddack estuary from harbour. Continue drive E along the Mawddach estuary almost to Dolgellau before returning N on A470.

I strongly suggest that you visit Portmeirion which is near Portmadog. https://portmeirion.wales

https://www.festrail.co.uk have a station at Beddgelert (Welsh Highland Railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon).
