If you don't have any luck with the Rick Steves guide, then Rough Guide do a guide to Wales.

The book, I believe, was Snapshot: Northern Wales and was last published in 2014. It was the "Wales" section of his Great Britain Guidebook.

For an updated version of the Snapshot Wales book you could just buy the Great Britain guidebook.

I borrowed the Lonely Planet guide book "Wales" from the library. I like to buy my guidebooks as I mark them up and tear out relative pages as RS advises.
This will be our third trip to Wales and will probably be joined by my cousin who lives up the coast from Liverpool near Southport. So I know a bit about the area, but still wanted a book dedicated to North Wales. I think my next move will be to head back to the library and borrow the RS guide to Great Britain.
Thanks everyone for your help; this is a great forum which I've only just discovered. Now if GB would produce a comprehensive east to navigate book/website of their rail system, I'df be grateful. I've looked on the site seat 61.com but...
