Dublin to Wales

We will be visiting in January. Have a few extra days. Is it worth taking the ferry from Dublin to Wales? If so, what would you advise as being the best way to spend three days? Thank you!

Where in Wales are you looking at? If northern Wales it is definitly worth taking the ferry as it is the fastest and easiest way to get there.

What part of Wales are you planning on visiting? Three days won't give very long, especially as you will have restricted hours of daylight (and possibly poor weather). Plan on a single base and explore from there. Cardiff may be a good place as there is lots to do.

The ferry lands at Holyhead. The South Stack area just out of Holyhead is great. Gonna be bloody chilly in Jan. Great hiking (brrrr), great sea cliffs, great lighthouse, great ancient monuments etc.
From Holyhead it's a short drive to the absolutely brilliant castle at Caernarfon (nice town too). Easy enough to reach Snowdonia too. Probably not the time of the year to do a quick dash up Snowdon (Wales highest) but plenty of other sights in that area.
