My husband and I are planning a trip to Wales, and have been communicating with one of the companies that offers self drive tours. The problem is that my husband is 85. He is in excellent health and has a clean driving record but none of that matters. The tour company's insurer will not provide the coverage for the company that they usually provide. Bottom line is no vehicle. Before we launch a search of all companies that offer self drive tours, do any of you seasoned travelers have advice for us?

I’m not sure about age restrictions for renting a vehicle, but if you can and don’t mind driving of the opposite side of the road, you don’t mind planning the trip yourself, and make your own reservations, you could probably do it for much less than going through a company. We rented from Heathrow and drove over to Wales.
