Will be in S Wales last week in September. Is the Big Pit National Coal Museum worth the half day if you take the hilighted underground tour which is only offered two times a day. After this we are heading west to the coast with an overnight at Aberystwynth on our way to Conwy four four nights.

It is a while since I visited, but it was definitely worth a half day and the underground tour is very good. It also gets consistently good reviews on Trip Advisor.

It is worth visiting and takes about an hour to drive from Cardiff. Suggest you do it on the way to Aberystwyth.
