We would like to the 7 day 1bws pass when we are in North Wales. I know the daily pass gets automatically calculated. For the 7 day, do you have to ask for it when you tap on or does it get automatically calculated also?

Automatically calculates, so the weekly applies after the first bus on Day 5- https://www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/en/Residents/Parking-roads-and-travel/Travel-passes/1bws-Ticket.aspx
It caps out at £7.50 on each of Days 1 to 4 or £32 per week.
Personally, because I distrust the computers to make the cap, I would opt for a paper weekly, but that is just me.
