(This is probably VERY OLD NEWS) Hello all! Just back from a wonderful and FULL 17 day RS tour of Italy, and wanted to report that if you are traveling to Rome starting now (October), the Trevi fountain is CLOSED on the steps and WILL NOT BE RUNNING WATER, ie looking like a fountain for a couple of months is what I understand. The area is enclosed with clear barriers, and you can walk AROUND the outside of the barriers, but no water is flowing, and WILL NOT BE FLOWING, in the fountains. AND NO ... this is NOT just for cleaning the fountain. It is still beautiful, and you can still toss the penny/coin over your shoulder over the barriers into the fountain; it is just not flowing or open.
Just situation awareness.
Keep on traveling!
