Tulsa Area Travel Group Meeting, November 16, 2024

Can you believe it's November already? Good heavens, the year is almost over and the holidays are upon us. Let's take a break from the end-of-year madness, and share one of our favorite activities: talking about travel!

The next Tulsa Area Rick Steves Travel Group Meeting will be Saturday November 16, at Panera Bread at 41st and Hudson in Tulsa (that's 5601 E. 41st, between Yale and Sheridan), at 9:30 a.m.

I'm expecting an amazing session this month: Kim will be back after a 2 month absence (might she have one of her amazing scrapbooks?) and Diane and Sharon have recently returned from their African adventure. Both are saying that this may be the best trip they have ever taken, and you know they always have great stories. Oh, and Patsy and Dale should be back from their European cruise! I, for one, can't wait to hear from all these folks about their recent trips.

Our meetings are all about sharing our experiences and learning from others. We love hearing each other's stories, asking questions, and offering our own hints and tips. As always, all travel related topics are open for discussion, and all comers are welcome. It's an open forum - come join in the fun. We want to hear your stories, answer your questions, see your photos and scrapbooks, and share your enthusiasm. Newbies welcome!

If you love to travel, or would like to travel, or are curious about travel, come join us. Anyone is welcome; you don't have to have been on a Rick Steves tour, or any tour at all. You'll recognize us by the RS books on the table, and the big smiles on our faces.

I'm trying again. I have my plane ticket and a reservation at the Hampton Inn down the highway.

Dave, even better, because our liveliest and most entertaining folks will be there. Plus, several of us are planning to stay longer this month, since there will be so much to talk about.

We will be delighted should you be able to make it.

What a great time we had today! Dave found us, and we enjoyed visiting with him so much. He fit right in, not that that surprises me.

And he brought along a wonderful book that he compiled and had printed, a glossy, full color recap of one of his recent trips. What a treat to view! And what a souvenir to treasure. I think he's going to come back to this thread and tell us how he had it done.

Thank so much, Dave, and we're going to hold you to that return visit! And when you get your own travel group started, we owe you one.

Kim, he did! I saw him walk in the door, and tried to look welcoming, but not too forward; I didn't want some local to wonder who that weird old lady was, coming on to him.

And sure enough, he turned the other way, in spite of my Keep On Travelin' tee. But in a few minutes, he circled around and found us. And what a good time we had. Have you seen the souvenir books he makes for himself and his travel pal? Wow!

I had a great time at the meeting yesterday! It was well worth the whirlwind trip to Tulsa. I learned a lot. And I now have an African safari on my radar for the late spring.

I knew immediately who the RS group was when I walked in the door and saw the blue and yellow book on the table. I just needed to make a quick trip to the men's room. :)

I use the Blurb website to make my books. They have easy-to-use software to download for creating the books. https://www.blurb.com/

Glad you enjoyed my travel book!

NOLA... great restaurant recommendation! It was excellent.

Also... the trip knocked a state off my list of non-visited states. That list is now down to 9.
