Moscow Meeting Cancelled

We're so sorry to say that it's been decided that walking through our favorite café in Moscow and then being in our little Back Room does not seem safe considering how contagious the Delta variant is so our 21 August, 2021 meeting has been cancelled.

Since we all love to talk constantly about travel, we're hoping to meet again at the 18 September meeting at 10:30. Once we're sure of it happening, we'll post again.

Keep on planning!

I'm not part of your group (and it's really none of my business, to be honest), but how about meeting outside somewhere?

Thanks for the proofing, Claudia!
Dave, we would really like to meet at the East City Park but right this moment the air quality is 157, red, unhealthy--for anyone. There's another fire in the area so most people are going outside as little as possible. But thanks for the suggestion.

Ahhh... fires... poor air quality... that makes sense!

We cancelled our in person meeting for the same reason. Delta variant, smoke and in our case extreme heat. That’s why we are back to Zoom this month. I hope next month is better for everyone.

Andrea, we also hope we're back to meeting in-person next month although hopefully without Doug and me! Fingers crossed we will be on our way to France by then.

Unfortunately the wisest decision. It was such fun to see folks last month. It felt like whatever we remembered as "normal" although not sure Darcy and I ever fall in that category, hahahaha!!

For those that don't know...Moscow is also a university town so all the students will be back as well both there and across the state line at WSU. The Farmers Market is lined up literally right outside the door so you have to walk thru market foot traffic to get to the location.

I'm sick, sick, sick of the smoke and heat....I want Paris....waaaahhhhh!

Remember one of our elected representatives suggested we nothing to fear because we all have to die sometime -- smoke, virus, flu. cars -- cannot live forever. I had that same attitude about 55 years ago.

Darcy & Pam, let’s meet up in Paris! We will be there April 17-24. I decided this fall/winter was too risky.

Andrea, that would be fun to meet up again but I don't think I can get away with a spring trip right before the June 2022 trip with the grandsons. Maybe Pam can though...Pam are you there?

Just bumping this up to make sure members know we're not meeting this Saturday.
(So sad to say.)

I "might" be in Paris then, Andrea! I think I am doing a Road Scholar tour in Belgium starting April 30 so planned to head to Ghent on April 28. I will either be in Paris or London prior to that so I'll let you know when I finalize things...which probably won't be until next Feb or so!

Pam, I’ll PM you with our Paris dates. SharYn from Berkeley will be overlapping with us in Paris. It would be fun to all get together, hopefully avoiding any police chases this time. ;-)

Oh! Now I really want to be in Paris in April although I'd prefer no police chases, please. My running shoes just aren't what they're cracked up to be.
Andrea will you and SharYn be in Paris the beginning or end of April. Could you email me the dates too, please? You never know, maybe I could just meet up with Doug and the grandsons later. I will need to keep track of my Schengen dates though.

"hopefully avoiding any police chases this time."

Well, that was hilarious....your DH and I were facing the chase and I was just in disbelief that was happening in front of us, lol!

Oh Darcy...surely there is an app that keeps track of your Schengen dates, lol!!

Ummm... I think Stan and I will be in Paris the last week of April... Dates aren't firm yet, but we're thinking 4/25 - 4/28, when we move to Chartres for the 5/1 Loire Valley to the South of France tour.

But if running from the police is involved, we may just wave to you as you dash by. My running days are long over... :-)

Hahaha, Jane! That would be fun if you all are there at the same time! Darcy will HAVE to come then!

And truthfully, we were inside a restaurant when the police chase went by outside....very memorable way to end lunch, lol!!

Our Paris dates are April 17-24. It would be fun to have our own Parisian travel meeting. SharYn will be there the first part of my week there.

I edited my post; the "5" key on our laptop doesn't work most of the time, and I sometimes forget to proofread. 4/25 - 4-28 are the dates we will probably be in Paris in 2022.
