International Travel Group Meeting August 6 @ 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time

Do you like to travel and have discussions about it with like minded people? If yes, this is the place for you. Please feel free to join us, no matter where you live.

Each meeting there will be topics to discuss.

Topics for this month:

  • How do you decide on what mode(s) of transportation to use while on your trip?
  • If you have made mistakes while traveling how did you solve your problem?

Please let me know in a reply to this post or with a PM if you are interested. If you have participated previously I already have your email address. If you haven’t you will need to send it to me in a PM. If you have told me you are interested and later find you can’t participate please let me know.

I will be emailing the Zoom link an hour or two before the meeting begins.

Please think of some topics for future meetings and share them during the meeting or you can PM me if you prefer.

Upcoming meetings will be:
September 3
October 1
November 5 (note that daylight saving time ends this day)

I've got a story about a train that was canceled last-minute which I had purchased tickets for way ahead that applies to both topics.

Hi Andrea - I was with the first person (yay!!) to sign up yesterday and she mentioned this meeting. I'm running behind on the Forums so hadn't seen it. She beat me to it!

at the time of our gathering - 6:30 pm in Germany - we will be wrapping up a 4 day visit to Munich after 3 in Nuremberg and 3 in the Frankfurt area, bookending with the Black Forest. The lovely hotel we like to stay in east of Munich has lovely rooms but I'm not sure of the wifi in all the rooms. If I can get on I'd love to join....

I have a choice of transportation story from the day before yesterday.

Hi Andrea,
Please add me to your list.
Sorry I haven't been to meetings lately. My Dad went into the ER 4 times since April 23rd. We're on day 102 of this long episode. He's in rehab hospital now. Finally getting better. Hopefully will be discharged within the month. Mom and I have been up with him every day. But, I should finally be able to duck out Sunday for the meeting. Looking forward to it! Hope y'all are well.

Hi Andrea. If there is space, please add me for tomorrow...or add to wait list. Thanks.

Wow! I took off the mention of limits to how many people we could handle awhile ago because with life getting back to normal less people were attending the meetings. What happened this month? Isn’t anyone traveling? Lol. Maria F. and Lynn, you’ve put us over the max amount. I’m going to send a zoom link to everyone who has requested to attend. Maria F. and Lynn, I will not admit you until I see if everyone else logs in. If I haven’t admitted you by 9:40 you can assume we are full. Everyone, please let me know ASAP if you aren’t going to be able to attend. If you haven’t logged in by 9:40 your spot may be taken by someone else. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

Andrea, I will give up my space because I'm traveling and timing was going to be dicey. Next time!

Andrea, I may be driving and, if so, was going to tune in on my phone. Why don’t you give my spot away and put me on the waiting list instead? I would still like to come if everything works out. It’s been a while since you have had this situation! :)

Thanks CWsocial and TexasTravelMom. If anyone else signs up you will be put on a wait list. Instructions are in my last post.

Just discovered this....too late for this month's crowd. I'll send my email in PM. I may be able to attend next month but I will be on the road in Scotland on Oct 1. (and possibly Canada on Nov 5). I hope I'll be able to check in sometime!

I just sent the zoom link to your emails. We have 4 people on the waitlist, CWsocial, TexasTravelMom, Lynn and CanAmCherie, in that order. If anyone hasn’t logged in by 9:40 I will admit those waitlisted people one at a time until we are full. If I don’t admit any of those people within a minute or two of that time they should assume that they won’t be admitted.

See you soon!

Yikes, I don’t know what’s happening this morning!! I’ve sent new links to the people who have let me know they didn’t get it.

oh, so I was not the only one but I got mine and it is working fine.

But want to let you know that I am logged in already.

I live in senior housing and we are all on social security

a religious organization is bringing each of us a box of fresh produce at 11:30 a.m. central time, same time that the meeting is to begin.

It should not take too long.

However I am bringing my iPad down to the lobby where I have to pick up my box and hopefully can also log in using my iPad

If not, I will be back in my apartment in a short period of time.

I will be on the zoom

I don’t know what the problem is this morning, but I’ve sent links out again to everyone that has not told me they got one. I hope this works! 🤞🏼

Andrea and Jim, thanks for letting me 'lurk.' I'll be home next month and look forward to joining the discussions. Also, it will be 2 weeks before I leave for France, so I will be very excited.

Thanks from me as well Andrea (and Jim!!) -

I didn't take notes so I've forgotten who is going to the Basque Country next year? Is it Barbara? Did you see this thread on the Freedom Trails across the Pyrenees? Side conversations aside, there is some good info on it. I listened to the podcast mentioned and it was quite good to fill in some historical detail.
