International Travel Group Meeting - Sun. July 12 @ 9:30am Pacific Time

Let’s talk about travel. We will discuss two topics; a country, region or city in Europe and a more general topic. Please let me know if there are any topics you would like to talk about. You can mention them on this post, during the meeting or by sending me a PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Topics for the month:
* Scotland
* Trip Reports

The group decided that we will devote the first hour of the meeting to the first topic, take a short break, then continue to the second topic. YOU MUST RESPOND EACH MONTH TO THAT MONTH’S MEETING POST IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND. If you have attended before I already have your email address. If not, you need to send it to me in a PM. I will not have time to ask you for it if you neglect to do this.

You will need to notify me no later than 7:00a.m. Pacific Time the day of the meeting if you would like to attend. I will email the zoom link 1 - 2 hours before the meeting begins and I will post here when I’ve sent them. If you didn’t get it please check your junk/spam folder and if it’s not there contact me ASAP. Once the meeting begins I will be unable to do anything. I usually log in at 9:15 if anyone is interested is joining early to chat.

I get meeting requests from people with 1 post (the one requesting to join) or PM’s from people with 0 posts requesting to join. We welcome everyone, but without a posting history I am asking you to private message me and tell me a little about yourself and provide your real first name. Please don’t forget to give me your email address in a PM. Do not post it on the forum.

I ADDED THE ZOOM LINK BELOW. Only the people who replied to the post will be admitted.

Oh rats, I love to talk about Scotland but will be traveling. But could please email me a link, Andrea, just in case? It will be late afternoon in Iceland so I might be able to join in for a bit.

I might be able to make it, as long as I am back from sightseeing in time. I would be attending from Scotland, so I guess I fit the theme….

I too am sorry to miss. Scotland is high on my list, but this coming weekend is my last in Chicago before flying home and 9.30 on the West Coast is lunchtime in Chicago. I'll be home for both August meet-ups, but in Rome on Oct 4 and in Zaragoza on Dec 6.

Hi Andrea, I have a Zoom meeting Sunday that begins at 10am. If it finishes by 11am or before, I’d like to join for the last half of the mtg

Hi everyone, I’ve just returned from a 2.5 week camping trip and I have had only spotty cell service and no wifi. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone on Sunday and hearing your thoughts and questions about Scotland and some trip reports.

Okay, I think the zoom link has been sent to all of you. If someone could verify they received it I would appreciate it. Don’t worry when you join the meeting or if you have to leave early. It’s not a problem.

Hi there, sorry to say I haven't received the zoom link either. I'm a new attendee, did send you a DM about a week ago with my email address. Thanks!

I don’t know what the problem is but the way to send the link has changed. I cancelled the other one and sent a new one. 🤞🏼

Apparently the new one didn’t send either.

Nigel says that it is showing on his zoom calendar so he said if you open the screen to your zoom calendar you should be able to go from there. I hope it works and I apologize if it doesn’t.

As of 8:45 t still have not received the zoom invite. Avi

Adding: I don’t use the same email address for RSE that I do for other activities.

Laurie Beth, I just saw this and with the way I had to schedule the meeting this morning I just looked and there doesn’t seem to be a way to add anyone. I’m sorry.

There are several ways to add people.

You can generate a URL invitation and then send it to any email addresses; you can copy paste email addresses or phone numbers into the event attendees on the zoom meeting.

I just got home from Madagascar last night, and I would have loved to join, but a friend of mine's wife died while I was away, and I made plans to go visit him.

Enjoy!

It took me quite awhile but I got in, finally. I kept clicking different prompts to try to get one to work.

Jody, I had to log in as myself, and then the invitation was showing that I could join.

I'm so glad I asked about Paestum, it sounds so evocative and exactly the kind of place we would enjoy visiting.

And here's the website for the delightful Hotel Forum. They also had an all-day restaurant that was a real pleasure when we crawled back hungry from the scavi! https://hotelforumpompeii.com/en/

I enjoyed, as always, hearing everyone's stories, and the info about Pompeii and surroundings will be useful for future planning.

Regarding the OAT tour of the Adriatic, while most tours use either Rijeka or Rovinj as the Istrian Peninsula base, this tour uses Opatija,

Just an add on, for the RS Adriatic tour, we stayed up high on tiny Motovun and stopped over at Opatija for an extended morning exploring time & over at Rovinj on a different day.

Great meeting as always! I really appreciated hearing from the Scotland travelers and enjoyed the trip reports on Pompeii and Croatia.

Special thanks to Andrea for persevering with the zoom sign-in.

Well it looks like I was one of many who did not get a link. Was this recorded and available after the fact? I am so disappointed to not be able to see the program.

dq56, I apologize again for the technical difficulties last Sunday. For privacy reasons we do not record the meetings.
