Best of Paris 7 days May 6-12

Hello I am traveling to Paris for the first time on the 5/6 tour. I will be arriving on Sunday morning and I am looking for suggestions for Sunday and Monday until we meet as a group. I was thinking of going to the Eiffel Tower on Sunday afternoon, I hear there are other single ladies on this tour. Anyone interested ?

Hi Susan, I'm not on the May 6 tour but I have done this tour twice (2007 & 2018) and wanted to let you know that you are in for a great vacation! Definitely plan to do the Eiffel Tower (order advance tickets from the official website). What hotel are you staying at? Take some time on day one to explore your neighborhood and grab a bite at a nearby café (all the menus are posted outside). Your tour includes a museum pass and metro pass so you will be able to pop in to some of the museums and sites that are not included on the tour or go back to spend more time at one that you really loved. So excited for you!

Hi Susan,
My husband and I are on the same tour! We arrive on Saturday, and will just chill out, walking and seeing what appeals to as we go. On Sunday, we are doing a food tour of Montmartre late morning, (Secret Food Tours), then have tickets to the Sunset Tour of the Eiffel Tower at 7:30 thru Fat Tire Tours. I’m one of those people who have been checking the Eiffel Tower website for a month and got frustrated that nothing showed up, so I booked with them when their tours were available. Now I learn that tickets on the official website will be available on April 3rd. I’ll try to get summit tickets for the same time, but otherwise we’re OK with what we have. Good luck with getting tickets for your time. Let me know if its the same time! When I first opened Fat Tires, there was a discount available for giving yor email, so we got a 20% discount.
For Monday morning, no particular plans—maybe the Rue Cler walk or Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
We are looking forward to the tour!

Thank you both for responding. I think my original post may have gone in the wrong place because I am unable to pull it up easily. It was a big help to know that the tickets will go on sale tomorrow and I will be online at 11pm tonight to try to get tickets to the Eiffel Tower. Fat Tire did not have anything available for Sunday when I checked but I will check with them again. RS Tours recommends getting the tickets through them so I will try them first. I will be traveling alone for the 1st time so I posted another message on the forum. Hopefully it will go through this time.

Sue,
I checked Fat Tire, and they do have availability to the second level on May 5, but not to the summit. There are 2 tours listed, the Sunset Tour and their regular 2nd level tour. I don't know if there is a difference. On the RS Paris itinerary, under "hints for Eiffel Tower tickets", they list times during the tour that could work, also.
I can see your posts on both the Rick Steves Tours page and also on the France page. If you click on your name, it shows information you have included for yourself and your posting history. That is also where you can send or receive Private Messages (PM's).
Good luck. I'd have to be up at 2:20 AM EST for the tickets, so that may not happen.

Hi Sue,

I am on the same tour and live in Anacortes. I land at 8 am Sunday morning. If you are landing similar time do you want to share a car to hotel? I think it was £45 to have the hotel pick up at airport. I was going to post to see if anyone wanted to split cost. I am hoping to go to see Opera house since that is not included in tour.

Looking forward to trip and meeting everyone.

Hi Kathleen: Wow - didn't expect that !! Yes, I've already arranged a ride from the airport for the hotel so you are welcome to ride with me. Are you on the Delta flight that leaving around 1:30 from Seattle? I'd love to talk to you.

Depending on where your hotel is, consider a walk through Luxembourg Gardens to get refreshed after that long flight; it's really beautiful and you'll feel like a local as you stroll the paths. I visited Paris for the first time last fall, and on our first day pre tour we walked about 5 miles and fell into bed around 11PM. It was a long, long, long but glorious day...ENJOY!
