Best of Paris May 6 -12

Hello : I am so excited about my upcoming trip to Paris. I will be traveling solo and will be arriving on May 5 in the morning. Are the any other singles on the tour??

You can contact the RS office.

As I recall, about a month prior, tour participants get a list of names of everyone on the tour. It will show any singles, if I recall correctly.

The lists no longer include last names (not that all couples have the same one), so not sure what help the list would be.

As a woman who has been on 6 RS tours by myself, I wouldn't worry about finding other singles--there likely will be some, and most of the couples are friendly and inclusive.

I’ll agree with Liz’s experience with traveling solo. I’m coming up on #11 RS tour (about half solo, half with family) and there have always been solos on each tour.

I’ll tell you that the Best of Paris tour made me feel SO comfortable traveling in Paris on my own! I’m at the end of yet another solo stay (8 nights this time) and can never have enough time in this wonderful city!

Have a terrific time! Let us know if you have questions.

Thanks for the response. Trying to get tickets to the Eiffel Tower for May 5 or 6 thru the Eiffel Tower website or Fat Tours... but no luck. Any suggestions?

Hi Sue,
Replied to your post on the Rick Steves Tours page. Fat Tire does't have tickets to the summit on the 5th, but they have them to the 2nd level at 1:30 and 7:30 PM. On Monday, the only availability for the summit is at 2:00, which would interfere with the start of the tour.

Hope that helps. I've tried the Eiffel Tower site with no luck. I'll try a few more times and cancel Fat Tires if I have luck, but otherwise, stick with what we have.
The Rick Steves Tours page is on the right column in the second box down, under "All forums", then "Trips and Trip Reports", then RS Tours.

Thanks for responding. I was able to get tickets through VIator which is owned by TripAdvisor. Very easy to work with. I purchased a ticket for Monday morning before the tour begins:)

No last names, but first names and hometowns of people traveling together are grouped together on the list, and it's pretty clear who's a single.

Sue, I’ll add one more thing if I may. If you haven’t bumped up your walking, do that in the month you’ve got left.

Just leaving Paris today after 8 days and my daily amounts were generally 6-8 miles per day! There were days I could have gone further but I just couldn’t! The winter in N Idaho wasn’t conducive to walking outside this year and I could tell a difference in how much I was able to see.
