IMG travel insurance

I unfortunately purchased an IMG travel insurance policy for a recent trip to Italy. There were no direct flights to Florence so had to stop in Frankfurt first. There was a 2 hour layover before the flight to Florence; yet Air Dolomiti (Lufthansa) managed to leave my bag behind. Did not receive the luggage until the next day. IMG denied my claim and said baggage delay was not a covered event. Policy clearly states the luggage delays of six hours or more ARE covered. Only looking for a very modest reimbursement of 118 euros. Am appealing decision but will never use IMG again.

Providing you reported the baggage was missing to the airport in question with a Property Irregularity Report ( PIR), inform IMG that, if the appeal is denied, you will forward your claim with a complaint to your state’s Insurance Commissioner. And then forward all claims documentation with a copy of the IMG policy to the State Insurance Commissioner if your claim is denied again.
You may also have reimbursement rights under the Montreal Convention.

Harsh review of a longstanding reputable insurance company by a first time poster. Hmm. Oh well, assuming this is legit-IMG offers multiple policies some covering baggage delay over 24 hours. Which policy do you have? Did you read it correctly? Did you properly fill out the claim form and submit with the required documentation? Story sounds shady….

Have used IMG for over 15 years, made only 2 claims both of which they paid when I submitted the proper documentation.

Thanks Kenko for the tip about my state's Insurance Commissioner. I will pursue that if IMG denies my claim again.
Not sure why poster thought my post was shady.
I am a frequent traveler who always purchases travel insurance and this is the first time I've ever had this problem. I note that Rick Steves posted about IMG back during COVID so I guess I'm not the only one.
Encouraging that another poster actually did receive reimbursement so I will continue to resubmit my receipts and hope for the best. I paid over $570 for this coverage so I expect to be reimbursed for what is clearly a covered item.

OP, perhaps you could respond to Kenko's mention of the need to have reported the missing bag at the airport baggage claim office when you arrived. Without that documentation no insurance company would pay out.

Only one of those statements is true

Did they deny it as a 'not a covered event' or because of a lack of documentation?
