I am currently in Italy and visited Florence yesterday. End of day, caught the tram back to the Costanza lot. Mad push to get on, let go of my phone for less than 10 seconds…..and gone. Mad at myself for making such a dumb mistake. Everyone, please secure your phone or just hold it in your hand. Phone has been suspended and blocked by AT&T, and have spent half the day changing passwords just to be safe.
Trying not to let this ruin my vacation, but not being successful so far.
I am so sorry to hear this. It sounds like you have a good recovery plan in place but it must be upsetting. Hope you are able to enjoy your time in Florence.

Front pocket....but I even had my hand on it...until the tram bucked and I had to grab the overhead rail to regain my balance. Went right back to grab the phone, and that quick it was gone. Once again....really angry about my loss of focus. Should have just held the phone in my hand the entire time.
Tip: have your phone's IMEI number handy for the police report. In the highly unlikely (ok, non-existent) event that the phone is recovered, the police enter that number into a database to identify the rightful owner. Only catch is I'd have to personally pick it up.
