Deutschlandticket: invalid tickets from fraud Internet shops

Travelers shall be very careful by choosing where to buy the Deutschland Ticket.

Customers of D-Ticket.com or D-Ticket.su failed with their tickets' validity when checked and needed to pay 60 EUR fine. Anyone who has bought their ticket there should check its validity as soon as possible and possibly buy a new one. See full article of tech magazine Heise in German language.

Do not buy from platforms which offer that you can book also parts of a calendar month which is by terms and conditions for this kind of ticket not possible. [Edit for clarity: only in first month you can use and pay the ticket pro rata].

Best is to buy directly from Deutsche Bahn or from one of the local transport providers from large German cities or communities. Examples:

I have used MVV and HVV without any problems. HVV allows you to buy a prorated ticket which comes in handy if you are arriving later in the month.

From the HVV website-

In the first month you only pay pro rata for the days you actually have it, after that it is only € 58 a month

I have used Tranzer for the Deutschland ticket, will again. Recommended by "The Man in Seat 61". Allows you to buy with no subscription or need to cancel.

I stand corrected (yet again). I'm off to Germany this year and read a couple of articles which stated that any pro-rata had been cancelled as of sometime last year.

I guess with HVV that you still have to order and cancel before the 10th of each month for the pro-rata rate?

I edited my initial post because pro rata in first month is part of the product. I apologize for possible confusion.

Gunderson, we were arriving on the 18th of the month and I got the prorated tickets at the beginning of that month. I cancelled them within a few days because we didn’t need them for the following month. Using the app was easy. This was for September 2024.
