Wise Card

Wise is just a Visa debit card, so it should work in most places where Visa is accepted. For cards issued to US customers there is a list of countries on the web site where your card won't work due to sanctions. None of this affects you using your card in the US, so maybe there's a specific issue with your card. My UK issued Wise card works in the UK and France, and I've used it elsewhere without incident.

Incidentally, check out whether the foreign exchange rates Wise charges you are competitive. My normal bank debit and credit cards offer better exchange rates and the ability to hold funds in multiple currencies.

If you do prefer to use a fintech rather than a bank, and your Wise card doesn't work, try Revolut as an alternative.

I am a work from home professional, and my employer prefer to send my salary to my Wise account rather than PayPal, probably because of less fees. I still prefer to use a bank-issued card for domestic and travel use, I only use the Wise card as a backup.
