VPN Recommendations

I've been using the same VPN service for ten years. But lately, when I try to connect to USA sites, it connects me to Romania.

I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable VPN that will give me choices of connections for the USA when I am out of the country, choices for the UK when I'm out of the UK (I need my BBC iPlayer), and other sites around the world.

I would recommend you watch some train vlogs since they almost always have VPNs as their sponsor. Surfshark seems to be the most common recommendation, you can also pull up listicles of all the many companies.

FWIW I wanted to watch the Dodgers game while I was in London and I remembered I had some random VPN that I had bought on sale years ago and it still worked! So I signed up for a test membership of Fubo and away I went.

The one catch these days seems to be that Netflix is very aggressive about policing VPN usage and it's getting harder to find one that works for more than a little while.

I’ve been happy using Surf Shark. My nephews who own an IT consulting/hosting business recommend it to their clients. SurfShark offers a money back guarantee if you don’t like it. When I was in Italy earlier this year, I was using a server in Miami or Atlanta with no problems.

I have NordVPN. It was well rated and works well for me. I can choose whatever location I want from the list of hubs. Had no problems traveling for 2 and a half months over the last year.

Another vote for NordVPN. I've used several over the years and NordVPN is the best of them, good connectivity with any server around the world and no issues using BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Prime etc that I've experienced with other VPN's.

We use both Hotspot Shield and VYPVPN. Hotspot comes through another service that we use and sometimes it is a little slow on obtaining the right server. VYP no problems. Both work when we are traveling.

Hotspot Shield is the one I'm having problems with. I'm paid up through March but I may just eat the cost and go with another provider.

Those vloggers I mentioned offer pretty generous startup deals with Surfshark if you use their magic codes

Frank II, I would go with something with Nord or VYP.

Depending on your needs, Windscribe offers a free plan with multiple country connection
options and 10GB of data a month. Unless you're streaming a lot of video, that would
suffice for a lot of people especially if you turned it off when doing general web surfing.
At least it might tide you over until your existing plan expires, or be a backup option.
