Using Galaxy 3 in Czech Republic and Germany

Planning to use my Galaxy 3 in the Czech Republic and Germany in the next few weeks using the T Mobile plan for texts, web, E-mail and a few phone calls. Need to know about battery charging--do I only need the adaptor plugs for these countries or do I need the converter as well? Any help will be appreciated!

Mary,

welcome and congrats on your trip.

if you look at your charging adapter, it will probably have 110~240 VAC on it. If so, all you will need is an adapter. For any electrical device/charger, you should verify this before you go so you dont have to hunt for a transformer/converter.

Also, about your T sim/plan, they now offer a 30/50/month USD international plan. The 3/4G is limited, but it drops to 2G when youre over there. you may want to look into if youre not locked (screwed) into a contract.

happy trails.

@ Dick,

Samsung has changed their locking tactics now.

most if not all of their devices have "regional" locks. The device MUST have the SIM of the country the device is purchased in to "unlock" the device. Once this is done, then you can use any other SIM. If you dont do this, it will lock the device. But in order to unlock it, all you would need to do is to install the proper regional SIM. this unlocking has been successfully tried and i will try it this year.

you can google it if you want to readup on it.

i just bought a Note 3 for my trip this year and will be buying a SIM somewhere to try to verify if it will lock my unit.. I have the T Mobile 50USD/month plan which includes international and i will also be trying it.

happy trails.
