Using Apple Wallet

My backup credit card is not contactless, but I have uploaded it to Apple wallet. Is Apple Pay widely used in England? Will I still need to use a PIN?
Thanks everyone:)

Apple Pay is very widely used in England and you won’t need a pin.

You can even use it to tap in and out on the tube.

We are in England now and have been using Apple Pay everywhere without needing a pin - it’s very easy and convenient. Our default AMX card has also been accepted via Apple Pay, which was a surprise to me. In the past, we often had to use Visa.

Enjoy your trip!

Ditto what Sharon said. We are currently in England and have used Apple pay for everything. So easy!

I used my Apple Watch for contactless payment both in Portugal and Turkey this April. I had no issues at all. I also used my CITI Costco CC for tap and pay and it worked with out issue.

Mine requires a typed in passcode for every purchase. Is that not normal?

that's your phone's passcode, correct - are you not using FaceID or Finger Print to activate your card

no, I open phone with fingerprint, open wallet, and select my card, where I put in a passcode to authorize payment. Didm not know there was a fingeprint option to authorize wallet.

Just asking, why wouldn't you set a default card and go with FaceID or Fingerprint.

Go into Wallet & Apple Pay and set a Default card and set up FingerPrint to authorize - then just hold your finger on the sensor and see your card light up on the screen as you pass it over the POS device to authorize your purchase.
