USB in UK and France

Good afternoon! My 13 year old will be traveling to the U.K. and France and like any modern teen everything she has uses USB charging. I have purchased this power strip from Amazon and I'm wondering if it will work with a white noise device that charges via USB but has no plug.
Pritek travel power strip with adapters
She won't have her laptop to charge it as she usually does. The lectro fan micro white noise machine reads " DC input: 5V ---1a"
It is my understanding that the pritek USB outlets will automatically conver the European 240 V act to the correct 5V DC if she plugs it directly into one of the four USB ports. (All Usb current is automatically converted?) If she plugs in her iPhone into the regular plug provided with the phone and into the 3 prong hole on the power strip it will be fine as well as the iPhone plug works at 110-250. Am I correct in all of this? I've not traveled internationally before. She won't be plugging anything directly into the wall. Just this unit with the correct adapter.

I might be a little reluctant to purchase the power strip because it has built-in surge protection. My electrical engineering background is not that strong so I accept the other advice that says you should not use a US based surge protector with 240voltage. My approach would be plain Jane power strip (no surge protection) and two plug adapter -- difference one for England and France. Or buy a 240 power strip with surge protection when you get to UK and a plug adapter for France.

PS. Went back and finally found the input label. It says up to 240v so you should be good to go.

That is why we have teen-agers.

Do NOT use US surge protectors in Europe. I have first-hand knowledge of someone who plugged a US surge protector into a European circuit and blew out the electricity of the entire hotel! Using a simple power strip or an extension cord with multiple outlets on the end is fine. She just needs cheap adapters for the equipment that she's bringing. Note that British plugs and French plugs are different from each other.

Looking at the photo, the 3rd picture down shows the label, which is marked "110-250V 5A 60Hz", so it should be OK for European voltage.

I am not sure what you mean by "a white noise device that charges via USB but has no plug.". USB is a plug and cable system, how can it have no plug?
USB is 5V DC, that is the USB standard. This, and all other USB chargers convert 110-250V AC to 5V DC, which is what phones etc. need.

Looking at the 4 adapters in the top photo, from left to right: UK, Aussie, Italy (3 pins in a row) and Schuko/French (which covers most of the rest of Europe). The one country not covered is Switzerland

Sorry! I meant it only came with the USB cord. I plug it into an old iPhone wall adapter. Sorry for the confusion. I have a neurological condition that causes aphasia sometimes so it makes it difficult to find the right words.

I made sure we had the correct adapters for Ireland, Great Britain, and France so she will take those two adapters with her as well. :-) Thanks everyone!

Your solution is overkill.

If all your daughters devices are USB then just get a USB charger. A 3.1 A dual port charger is good enough, way smaller, way lighter, and way cheaper. All USB chargers will convert to the needed 5 volts.

The big power strip is only needed if you have 120v devices such as a CPAP, a big computer, etc. You don’t need any of that for USB only travel.

My solution is to use a dual port USB charger with a county specific adapter. I usually only charge 1-2 things at a time so it’s sufficient.

I’d also make one suggestion. You can download a white noise app to the phone. So that’s one less thing to carry.

I use Sleep Machine, which has a wide variety of sounds (and alarms) with crickets, trains, waves, rain, lawnmowers etc. It also has a timer so it will make noise for a designated amount of time and then shut off.

There are also lots of free white noise apps out there. They just have less features.

I looked at the wall adapter USB's but since she will be rooming with 4-6 other kids and she didn't know where the outlet would be we opted for the longer cord. She also has some OCD and anxiety so we are trying to keep things as close to "homelike" as possible. The longer cord will allows her to place the machine closer to her without having to have the noise up in case the other kids don't like it. She's tried the white noise phone apps and for some reason they bother her. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh! That’s a lot of people trying to use the plug. Especially since a lot of Euro places have less wall outlets. A multi plug port will make her a popular person.

This setup will work fine for her trip.
