Upgrading to Verizon Unlimited Ultimate plan for 1 month

We're making two international trips this year and talked with Verizon today about options. We have purchased the 1 month plan for $100 in the past but the least expensive option is to upgrade to the Unlimited Ultimate plan for $25 per line for the month of travel and then change it back to our current Unlimited Welcome plan upon our return. For those who have done this, did you revert to the plan at the same cost you had before you upgraded, or did the cost of you old plan increase? Our monthly plan is reasonable and we would like to keep it. Note: We are not interested in changing to T Mobile.

You’ll have to pay whatever the cost of your plan is when you switch back to it.

I have Verizon too and it’s cheaper for me to pay the $100 for the international plan when I travel. They tried to get me to switch over to one of the new plans, but even paying $100 for multiple trips a year, my current plan is still cheaper.

Good luck!!

We recently changed over to Verizon. At the time, we asked about international use from Europe and the representative recommended the same thing you heard, upgrading for one month to the Ultimate Plan. In our case, it would be significantly cheaper to do this than to pay $100 for the special international plan.

It’s my understanding that you can change plans at will, it’s not like the ‘old days’ when you were locked into a specific plan for a period of time, with penalties if you made a change (I remember those days!).

We are planning to upgrade to the ‘Ultimate’ plan for the month that we’re traveling, and then change back to our current plan when we return. Whether or not this is a good plan for you depends on what you’re currently paying, and how you plan to use your phone in Europe.
If you have doubts, certainly contact Verizon to confirm about what would happen if you change your plan for one month.
