I have usually used a private insurance companies (i.e. Allianz, Travelex) when I travel to Europe. I noticed this time that United also offers insurance. Has anyone used insurance offered by an airline? If yes, did you have any issues?
I believe the insurance is going to cover only your flight and not the rest of your trip. Take a look at the fine print.
As above, United usually just sells insurance through a third party covering your flight and trip delays, lost luggage etc. These policies are not as comprehensive as Travel Insurance policies which cover not only flight issues, but also emergency medical costs, medical evacuation, etc. Since United marks up the cost of the insurance offered by an outside company— you can save money by buying directly from the insurance provider.
