The new Trip Advisor App

Couple days back TA completely overhauled their mobile app with a new version that is sure to be a game changer in this category.

The most impressive new feature is that a lot of TA's content is now available off-line via new "city-packs" which you download before you leave for your trip.
The best part is that each pack includes a full Google city map of your destination which is more detailed than the maps you can download from Google's own app. Of course these maps have GPS functionality, and major landmarks listed.
The packs also include the most recent reviews for restaurants, hotels, and attractions...all available off-line and complete free!

I can't wait to try them. The more apps that can be used off line the better. My I-Pad does not have phone access so I am only planning on using Wi-Fi or nothing at all. Thanks for the update.

After discovering this today I have downloaded for Edinburgh and Paris. I keep trying to download London, but so far no success. I'm not sure why. It's an interesting variety of cities available to do this with.

With the new mobile app, are you able to see the Top Questions for each forum on the right side? This was unavailable either on the app or the regular mobile platform so quite a pain in the neck to change to the full site to view content.

I hope the Google Maps on the App are better than the ones on their site. I've lost count of the number of restos in Sorrento that are shown as being in Naples. And there have been some spectacular howlers with whole villages and towns in the UK shown as miles away from their actual location. At least they have gone back to Google, the Bing Maps were awful.

this may seem like a stupid question, but where do you get the new app? I tried Amazon (for my Kindle and it was still the old app) and I tried iTunes for my iPhone and it, too, was the old app that I already have.

Thanks

I checked my Trip Advisor app, and the newest upgrade has the "City Packs". I'm considering downloading a few for my next trip but still thinking about it as they require a fair bit of memory.
